AMLR awareness course explaining AMLR, AMLD6 and AMLA, and what the new European AML/CFT framework means for organisations and employees.

Description

AMLR Awareness: Understanding the EU’s New AML Framework

A short awareness course introducing the EU’s new AML/CFT framework, explaining why the European approach is changing and what AMLR, AMLD6 and AMLA may mean for organisations and employees.

OVERVIEW

The European Union is moving towards a more harmonised AML/CFT framework. AMLR introduces directly applicable requirements for obliged entities, while AMLD6 addresses national AML/CFT frameworks and competent authorities. AMLA supports cooperation and coordination at EU level and directly supervises selected obliged entities.

This course provides a clear introduction to this changing framework and explains why the EU is moving from national implementation towards greater harmonisation and coordination.

You will learn how the European AML/CFT framework has developed, why differences between national frameworks create challenges, and how AMLR, AMLD6 and AMLA fit together. The course also explains what these developments could mean for your organisation and your daily work.

The focus is on practical awareness rather than legal or technical detail. You will see examples of areas that organisations may need to review, including customer due diligence, customer risk assessments, ongoing monitoring, policies and procedures, data and systems, governance and training.

You will also learn what you should do during the transition. The course emphasises following your organisation’s formally approved procedures, keeping records accurate, completing required training and using the appropriate escalation channels when you are unsure how to proceed.

This is an introductory AML/CFT awareness course. It does not replace role-specific AML/CFT training, internal procedures or legal advice.

COURSE

The course consists of three lessons and a final knowledge check.

From national AML frameworks to a European rulebook

This lesson explains how the EU AML/CFT framework has developed and how national implementation of EU directives has resulted in differences between countries. It introduces the concept of fragmentation and explains why these differences can create challenges for institutions operating across borders.

Why the EU is changing its approach

This lesson explains why fragmented AML/CFT frameworks create practical challenges and how the EU is responding through greater harmonisation, cooperation and coordinated supervision. It introduces AMLR, AMLD6 and AMLA and explains their different but connected roles.

What may change and what does this mean for you?

This lesson focuses on the potential organisational and practical impact of the new framework. It covers areas such as CDD, customer risk assessments, ongoing monitoring, policies and procedures, data and systems, governance and training. It also explains what these changes could mean for employees in their daily work.

Quiz

The course concludes with a six-question knowledge check covering the development of the EU AML/CFT framework, fragmentation, harmonisation, AMLR, AMLD6, AMLA and the practical impact of regulatory change.

WHY IS THIS COURSE DIFFERENT?

AMLR Awareness is not a technical AMLR implementation course and not a senior management programme. It is designed specifically to give employees a clear and practical understanding of what is changing at European level and why this matters to their organisation and their daily work.

The course combines:

  • A clear explanation of the development of the European AML/CFT framework
  • Practical explanation of why national differences create challenges
  • An introduction to AMLR, AMLD6 and AMLA
  • Examples of how organisations may need to review their AML/CFT arrangements
  • A specific focus on what regulatory change could mean for employees
  • Practical guidance on procedures, training and escalation
  • Interactive activities and knowledge questions
  • A short, self-paced format suitable for employee awareness

The course connects European regulatory developments to situations employees may encounter in their daily work. It also makes clear that the impact of the new framework will differ between organisations and roles. amlr-awareness-understanding-th…
